I know you say most men are marriage-minded underneath but they seem much less interested in getting into a stable, committed relationship than women do, and seem to drag their heels. Some of the things I hate about being single are in no particular order: Surely these things apply to men just as much as women? Your insights would be much appreciated. I was recently informed that a lot of guys legitimately have no clue on how to talk to a woman without becoming the pervy douchebag from the bar around the corner you know the type: Step 1 — The Question You wanna ask somebody out? Like on an actual date. Whose fault is that? Mind you, this does not mean that you can go ahead and sexualize them.
Although the physical does help. Step 2 — The Plan This is where a lot of people get unnecessarily nervous. They wanna plan something original, yet stay within a budget, but make sure that their date will enjoy it etc. Like seeing art exhibits? Prefer ice cream cones in the park? Wanna go see a lame movie and try out all the different flavors of popcorn they have? Is it going well? Mind you, silence can be good every now and then.
Anyway, good vibes all around?

Love raises so many questions, but the most important perhaps is still unanswered: Some people believe that love is a necessity.

Persistence is grossly overrated in dating and romance. Dear Captain, I am a man and I have a problem: I met a friend-of-a-friend a few times before, and we had flirted with each other, so I was feeling confident about our connection. Our group went to a party a while back, and I ended up asking to kiss her when we alone at one point. I backed off physically, but I pressed the point: We parted without incident, but met back up at the end of the party the group was riding back together.

Yoav Fisher September 08, 8: This got me thinking about the whole concept of closure, which is something I have always had issues with. We are familiar with the concept of closure primarily when it comes to relationships, specifically when a relationship ends. There are two things that I disagree with concerning closure that I wanted to share with you briefly. We live in a world of uncertainty.
Yet, we are creatures who desperately need structure and order to survive. Therefore, the need for closure is natural, but totally illogical. This is especially true for breakups. The natural desire to be totally and completely honest following a break up tends to zero. Closure has nothing to do with anyone but yourself.

This article from The Onion is old but still valid: A normal person living in NYC has to just substantially lower their expectations. Is it culture when a guy is peeing on the platform at Union Station?
Is it culture when a guy is jacking off on the R-Train right in front of you? There are people who will say these things are all character building, personal growth opportunities. Everyone is comfortable pointing out that stuff about other cities. So I fail to see your point. Part of the NYC experience is how raw it all is, everything is in your face where little is hidden behind plastic bubbles. There’s no doubt in my mind that people who grow up in NYC are tougher, since it’s also part of the culture to take care of getting yourself places and what not once you start middle school.
I’d also add most people who grew up there recognize that New York isn’t a nice place, but it’s home, and you can’t find the culture that exists there anywhere else.
